This website Saze.net aims to document and present the history of the great tradition of instrumental sazs of Southern Albania as part of the iso-polyphony nominated by the Ministry of Culture as National Masterpiece of Intangible Cultural Heritage (2010) and registered in the UNESCO Representative list of intangible heritage (2008) as part of Albanian Folk Iso- Polyphony. The research, selection and preparation of materials for this site were carried out by Prof. Dr. Vasil Tole, expert in the field of intangible cultural heritage.

This site mainly targets the bearers of this music as well as scholars, students, pupils and anyone interested in the intangible cultural heritage of Albania who will find on interlinked web pages the best tradition of kaba-s. It includes:

  • the main groups of Saze as polyphonic musical instrumental formations in Southern Albania and the main masters of Saze from the end of the XIX century to the beginning of the XXI century;
  • a historical overview of the creation of urban folk music as a result of the process of “musical hybridization” between tempered instruments and the polyphonic folk music “a capella” of the village;
  • the identification and description of “Instrumental Kaba” as the main musical genre created by polyphonic instruments; detailed presentation of the most prominent garnets for garnets or violin as well as the masters who have interpreted them in the past 100 years
