Ramazan Zyberi

Ramazan Zyberi (December 31, 1920 – September 22, 2008)

He was born in Tirana in a poor working family. He worked since he was a child to make a living. In August 1944, he joined the Anti-Fascist National-Liberation War, joining the 1st Assault Brigade. In 1945, he is a member and actor of a theater group that was part of the Brigade for the Protection of the People in Tirana. In 1946, he was engaged as a chorister in the artistic group of the People’s Army led by Gaqo Avrazi and participated in the first concert of this formation. It was the time when he came out publicly as a solo folk singer and creator of Tirana folk songs, in the many concerts that were organized all over Albania and beyond. During 1947-1952, we find him to be a member of the Albanian Philharmonic, a soloist and an actor in the “People’s Theatre”, as both institutions were under the same directorate.

In 1952, he founded the “Variety Show of Tirana”, after which he worked for two years in Kukës. During 1957-1958, he completed a specialization at the “Balshoj” theater in Moscow and upon returning he performed several roles in the dramas that were played at the “National Theater”. He became active as a writer of humorous texts, which were regularly published in the “Hosteni” magazine. During 1969-1974, he worked as a worker in one of the state enterprises of Tirana. In 1974, he retired but never stopped his artistic activity, mainly as a popular singer in the National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances. In 1983, he co-founded the “Tirana Ensemble” which was established in the Palace of Culture in Tirana. The Municipality of Tirana awarded him the title “Recognition of Tirana“, by decision of the Municipal Council no. 59, dated April 21, 2000, under the motivation: “For the high civic and intellectual values ​​in the service of the city of Tirana, for which citizens express their gratitude
