Parashqevi Simaku

Parashqevi Simaku was born in the city of Kavaja on September 1, 1966. A prominent singer of Albanian music. She sang at festivals since she was a child, and then became part of the dance group of the Glass Factory in Kavaja. At the same time, she started singing the folk songs of the city. She had the peak of her career as a singer in the 1980s, participating in pioneer festivals, spring concerts and then in the “Singing Festivals of the RTSH”, where she was ranked first with her performances in 1985 and 1988. She collaborated with some of the most prominent Albanian composers. At the end of the 1980s, she organized a concert with folk music, accompanied by the folk orchestra of the National Ensemble of Folk Songs and Dances, under the artistic direction of the famous composer Cesk Zadeja (1927-1997). After the 1990s she moved to live in the United States of America.
